On 15 September, the new creation of the tireless Sir John Eliot Gardiner, the Constellation Choir & Orchestra, makes its debut in Italy.
Formed the previous year following the separation between the English maestro and his historic Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, the new ensemble will perform in Rimini with a refined and cultured programme dedicated to Mendelssohn and his masterpiece based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, in the rare complete version with stage music, choir and soloists.
Also inspired by the finest European literature is Walpurgisnacht, the title of a popular ballad by Goethe set to music by Mendelssohn.
On Sunday 14 September, at 9 pm at the Teatro Galli, as part of the Parole per la musica (Words for Music) series, a listening guide in preparation for the concert: A Midsummer Night's Dream by Mendelssohn is crated by Alberto Batisti.
