With the English trilogy now complete, the festival turns its attention to Rimini's own Cecilia Bartoli, a world-class bel canto diva who is as unique as she is rare. With her Musiciens du Prince – Monaco, she will give a recital with orchestra on 28 September, with a programme seductively entitled “Si dolce è 'l tormento – Canzoni d'amore” (So sweet is torment – Love songs), with music ranging from Monteverdi to Handel. Bartoli has been a loyal guest of the Festival for years, ever since the new Galli Theatre was inaugurated, and is much loved by the people of Rimini.
